The stock market will be closed on Friday
The upcoming trading week will be a short one, with markets closed on Friday for the Good Friday holiday. However, there's plenty of action for traders to digest, including a raft of Fed speeches after the central bank issued a rate hike yesterday, and gave a hawkish outlook. Plus, the final reading on fourth-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) will be released, and a handful of retail earnings will come out -- including quarterly results from yoga apparel maker Lululemon Athletica inc. (NASDAQ:LULU).
Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.
On Monday, March 26, the Dallas Fed manufacturing survey will be released. New York Fed President William Dudley will speak at 12:30 p.m. ET, while Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester will take the mic after the close. Paychex (PAYX) and Red Hat (RHT) will report earnings.
The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller home price index and consumer confidence are due on Tuesday, March 27. Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic is slated to give a speech. Celsion (CLSN), Francesca's (FRAN), RH (RH), and Lululemon Athletica (LULU) will step into the earnings confessional.
The final reading on fourth-quarter GDP highlights the economic calendar on Wednesday, March 28. International trade data, pending home sales, and the weekly crude inventories update will also be released. Bostic will take the stage again. Earnings from GameStop (GME) and Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) are due.
Thursday, March 29, brings weekly jobless claims, personal income and spending data, the Chicago purchasing managers index (PMI), and the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index are on tap. Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker rounds out a busy week of Fedspeak. AngioDynamics (ANGO) and Constellation Brands (STZ) will release earnings. Markets are closed on Friday, March 20, for Good Friday.
