The Dow got off to a great start, but wound up significantly south of breakeven by day's end. Across all 12 options exchanges, 6.9 million calls crossed, compared to 7.2 million puts. The day's put/call volume ratio closed at 1.03.

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) call volume was accelerated, as the stock snapped its seven-day losing streak on news the company plans to expand in Asia. GoPro Inc (NASDAQ:GPRO) has been struggling mightily lately, but that didn't stop call players today, with the contracts changing hands at twice the normal pace.

Put activity on Palo Alto Networks Inc (NYSE:PANW) was three times more popular than normal ahead of the company's trip to the earnings confessional. Elsewhere, Expedia Inc (NASDAQ:EXPE) puts ran at close to triple the typical pace today.
