The Dow again made an outsized move late in the day, this time to the upside -- notching its biggest one-day percentage gain since 2011. Across all 12 options exchanges, 9.5 million calls crossed, compared to 10.7 million puts. The day's put/call volume ratio closed at 1.12.

Call players rushed to NQ Mobile Inc (ADR) (NYSE:NQ) today ahead of the company's earnings release. Amid the broad-market surge, blue chips The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) and McDonald's Corporation (NYSE:MCD) each saw heavy call volume.

For puts, Lululemon Athletica inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) saw accelerated activity, even as the stock heads into a historically strong month. Elsewhere, bearish traders throttled Transocean LTD (NYSE:RIG), with put volume reaching seven times the normal level, as the stock continues to slide.
