With the first full week of October as we approach such a bullish time of the year for the S&P 500, investors will have plenty of economic data to digest. Today features a factory orders update, followed by a trade deficit report on Tuesday. ADP employment data is slated for release on Wednesday, which sets up the end of the week nicely, as its heavily focused on jobs data. Of course on Thursday, initial and continues jobless claims are due out, and Friday features nonfarm payrolls, alongside an update to the unemployment rate.

It will be a relatively quiet week in the earnings confessional. This week will feature reports from Conagra (CAG)Constellation Brands (STZ)Levi Strauss (LEVI), and PepsiCo (PEP).

The following companies' earnings announcements are expected today, October 4:

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ:ANGO -- $26.16) designs, develops, produces, and markets products, systems, and services for communications solutions in the United States and internationally. Comtech will report its Q4 earnings of 2021 after the market closes today.

PepsiCo Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP -- $150.95) operates as a food and beverage company worldwide. PepsiCo will report its Q3 earnings of 2021 after the market closes today.
