The economic events calendar is packed today
Today features a large amount of economic data. Updates on real disposable income, real consumer spending, the Markit manufacturing PMI, and construction spending are on the docket. In addition, the ISM manufacturing and final consumer sentiment indexes are due out. Lastly, core inflation and the final 5-year expected inflation rate updates will be released.
There are no corporate earnings announcements expected today, October 1.
Looking ahead to the first full week of October as we approach such a bullish time of the year for the S&P 500, investors will have plenty of economic data to digest. Monday features a factory orders update, followed by a trade deficit report on Tuesday. ADP employment data is slated for release on Wednesday, which sets up the end of the week nicely, as its heavily focused on jobs data. Of course on Thursday, initial and continues jobless claims are due out, and Friday features nonfarm payrolls, alongside an update to the unemployment rate.
It'll be a relatively quiet week in the earnings confessional. Next week will feature reports from Conagra (CAG), Constellation Brands (STZ), Levi Strauss (LEVI), and PepsiCo (PEP).
