The latest FOMC announcement is expected out on Wednesday
Next week will be packed with earnings reports and economic activity. Several big names will headline the busy earnings week, including 3M (MMM), Alphabet (GOOGL), Amazon.com (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), AstraZenica (AZN), Boeing (BA), Caterpillar (CAT), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Facebook (FB), Ford Motor (F), General Electric (GE), McDonald's (MCD), Pfizer (PFE), Spotify (SPOT), Starbucks (SBUX), Tesla (TSLA), United Postal Service (UPS), and Visa (V).
Besides a bevy of quarterly reports, investors will have much to unpack by way of economic data. Home sales, goods orders, the S&P Case-Shiller home price index, and data on core inflation will all move markets next week. Investors will also undoubtedly be paying attention to Wednesday's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announcement, which will be directly followed by comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
Below is a list of key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All economic dates listed below are tentative and subject to change.
Monday, July 26 will bring new home sales data for June.
On Tuesday, July 27, durable goods orders and the July consumer confidence index will be due out. Investors will also pore over the S&P Case-Shiller home price index, and a second-quarter housing vacancies reading.
Data on advance trade in goods will be due out on Wednesday, July 28. The latest FOMC announcement is scheduled for that afternoon, with a press conference from Fed Chair Jerome Powell to follow.
Initial and continuing jobless claims are on tap for Thursday, July 29, as well as a gross domestic product (GDP) reading for the second quarter, and June's pending home sales index.
The month will come to a close on Friday, July 30, with the employment cost index, data on personal income, consumer spending and core inflation all due out. The Chicago purchasing manager's index (PMI) will also help wrap up the week.
