Today investors have both the consumer price index (CPI) and the core CPI to look forward to. Separately, the National Federation of Independent Business' (NFIB) small-business index will be released. 

The following companies are slated to release quarterly earnings report today, April 13:

Fastenal Co. (NASDAQ:FAST -- $50.71) engages in the wholesale distribution of industrial and construction supplies. Fastenal will report its Q1 earnings of 2021 before the bell today.

Washington Federal Inc. (NASDAQ:WAFD -- $31.43) operates as the bank holding company for Washington Federal Bank, National Association. Washing Federal will report its Q2 earnings of 2021 after the close today.

Here is a quick check on how yesterday's earnings announcements looked:

Aphria Inc. (NASDAQ:APHA -- $16.28) engages in the production and supply of medical cannabis. Aphria reported a quarterly loss of $0.12 per share versus estimates of a loss of $0.03. This compares to earnings of $0.02 per share a year ago. The company made revenues of $120.53 million for the quarter ended February 2021, missing the expectations by 9.84%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $109.64 million.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Wednesday brings the import price index and the Federal Reserve's latest "Beige Book" report. All economic dates listed here are tentative and subject to change.
