Stocks fell sharply yesterday as investors continue to process all of information being released regarding rising COVID-19 cases as well as uncertainty about the next U.S. fiscal stimulus. September has had quite the mean streak that has yet to slow down. Today, though, is all about new home sales data and weekly jobless claims. There are also a slew of high-profile earnings due out today that investors need to keep an eye on.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI - 26,763.13) fell 1.9% on Wednesday. Nike (NKE) led the list yesterday, topping the list of two winners with an 8.8% rise while Salesforce.com (CRM) landed at the bottom with a 4.8% drop. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 Index (SPX - 3,236.92) lost 2.4% for the day. The Nasdaq Composite (IXIC - 10,632.99) added 3% during yesterday's trading session. Lastly, the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX - 28.58) added 6.4% for the day on Wednesday.

In case you missed it yesterday, don't miss it today, too. Here's a quick rundown of must-reads before the bell:
