The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI - 27,940.47) gained 439.6 points, or 1.6% yesterday. Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT -- $211.29) finished yesterday with a 4.3% rise, pacing the 26 gainers. Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ: WBA -- $35.35) fell 2.1%, leading the list of four laggards.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 Index (SPX - 3,398.96) added 67.1 points, or 2% yesterday. The Nasdaq Composite (IXIC - 11,141.56) rose 293.9 points, or 2.7% during yesterday's session.

Lastly, the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX - 28.81) lost 2.7 points, or 8.4%, on Wednesday.
