Amazon Joins Long List of Dow Stocks on Earnings Schedule

Several Dow components will release quarterly reports between Tuesday and Thursday

Earnings season is set to continue in a big way, with a heavy dose of blue-chip stocks featured on the upcoming calendar. Even outside of Dow components there are plenty of high-profile names due to report, including Amazon.com (AMZN), Tesla (TSLA), and Twitter (TWTR).

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

There's no data for Monday, Oct. 21. The earnings action starts slow, too, with just Halliburton (HAL), SAP SE (SAP), and TD Ameritrade (AMTD) scheduled to report.

Existing home sales come out on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan will speak. Earnings will pick up in a big way, with McDonald's (MCD), Procter & Gamble (PG), Travelers (TRV), United Technologies (UTX), Centene (CNC), Chipotle (CMG), Discover Financial Services (DFS), Harley-Davidson (HOG), Hasbro (HAS), iRobot (IRBT), JetBlue Airways (JBLU), Kimberly-Clark (KMB), Lockheed Martin (LMT), Novartis (NVS), Nucor (NUE), Polaris Industries (PII), PulteGroup (PHM), Quest Diagnostics (DGX), Sherwin-Williams (SHW), Six Flags (SIX), Skechers (SKX), Snap (SNAP), and UPS (UPS) all releasing numbers.

Weekly crude inventories come out on Wednesday, Oct. 23. For earnings, Boeing (BA), Caterpillar (CAT), Microsoft (MSFT), Anthem (ANTM), Blackstone (BX), Boston Scientific (BSX), Canadian Pacific (CP), Cleveland-Cliffs (CLF), eBay (EBAY), Edwards Lifesciences (EW), Eli Lilly (ELY), Equifax (EFX), F5 Networks (FFIV), Ford Motor (F), Freeport-McMoRan (FCX), General Dynamics (GD), Hilton (HLT), Lam Research (LRCX), Nasdaq (NDAQ), Norfolk Southern (NSC), O'Reilly Auto Parts (ORLY), Owens Corning (OC), PayPal (PYPL), Spirit Airlines (SAVE), TSLA, Varian Medical Systems (VAR), UniFirst (UNF), Waste Management (WM), Winnebago (WGO), and Xilinx (XLNX) will report.

The schedule for Thursday, Oct. 24, features weekly jobless claims, durable goods orders, new home sales, and the Fed's balance sheet. There will be earnings from 3M (MMM), Dow (DOW), Intel (INTC), Visa (V), Alaska Airlines (ALK), Allegiant Travel (ALGT), AMZN, American Airlines (AAL), Citrix Systems (CTXS), Cypress Semiconductor (CY), eHealth (EHTH), Flex (FLEX), Gilead Sciences (GILD), Hershey (HSY), Juniper Networks (JNPR), Northrop Grumman (NOC), Proofpoint (PFPT), Raytheon (RTN), Southwest Airlines (LUV), T-Mobile (TMUS), Tractor Supply (TSCO), TWTR, and VeriSign (VRSN). 

Wrapping up the week in economic data on Friday, Oct. 25, will be University of Michigan consumer sentiment index. The earnings slate features Verizon (VZ), Anhueser-Busch Inbev (BUD), and VF Corp (VFC).
