Earnings from the financial sector will pour in next week, including from blue chips American Express (AXP), Goldman Sachs (GS), and JPMorgan Chase (JPM). FAANG stock Netflix (NFLX) and Dow stock UnitedHealth (UNH) could also move after earnings. Traders will also keep a close eye on Tuesday's producer price index (PPI), as well as retail sales and more housing data. In addition, several Fed members will be speaking throughout the week.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

The week will start slowly, with a muted economic calendar for Monday, Jan. 14, and Citigroup (C) slated to report its quarterly earnings.

Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari will speak at 11:30 a.m. ET. Both Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan and Kansas City Fed President Esther George will speak at 1:00 p.m. ET. Dow members JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and UnitedHealth (UNH) will release earnings, along with Charles Schwab (SCHW), Kinder Morgan (KMI), United Continental (UAL), and Wells Fargo (WFC).

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, Wall Street will see a flurry of economic data, including retail sales, import and export prices, business inventories, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) housing market index, the weekly crude inventories report, the Fed's Beige Book, and the Treasury International Capital (TIC) data. Kashkari will speak again. It'll be another big day for bank earnings, with blue chip Goldman Sachs (GS) reporting, as well as Alcoa (AA), Bank of America (BAC), BlackRock (BLK), CSX (CSX), PNC Financial (PNC), and U.S. Bancorp (USB).

Data on housing starts, weekly jobless claims, the Fed balance sheet, and the Philadelphia Fed business outlook survey are slated for Thursday, Jan 17.
