Walmart will lead a slew of retailer earnings
Next week will bring a handful of noteworthy names to the earnings confessional. Blue chips Home Depot (HD), Cisco Systems (CSCO), and Walmart (WMT) are all on deck, as well as retail powerhouses J C Penney (JCP), Macy's (M), and Kate Spade parent Tapestry (TPR). Monthly retail sales will also roll in, along with some housing and trade data.
Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.
The week starts off slow on Monday, Aug. 13, with no notable economic data scheduled. Regarding earnings, JinkoSolar (JKS), Sysco (SYY), Switch (SWCH), and Vipshop (VIPS) are scheduled to report.
Import and export prices are slated to roll in on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Meanwhile, Home Depot (HD), Advance Auto Parts (AAP), Agilent Technologies (A), Array Biopharma (ARRY), Baozun (BZUN), Canadian Solar (CSIQ), Children's Place (PLCE), Cree (CREE), and Tapestry (TPR) will report earnings.
A busy day for economic data, Wednesday, Aug. 15, will bring retail sales, the New York manufacturing survey, productivity and costs, industrial production numbers, and business inventories. Additionally, the NAHB housing market index, weekly crude inventories report, and Treasury International Capital are expected. Stepping into the earnings confessional will be Cisco Systems (CSCO), Macy's (M), and NetApp (NTAP).
On the economic front, Thursday, Aug. 16, will bring weekly jobless claims, July housing starts, and the Philadelphia Fed business outlook survey. Earnings from Walmart (WMT), Applied Materials (AMAT), J C Penney (JCP), JD.com (JD), Nordstrom (JWN), and Nvidia (NVDA) will be released.
On Friday, Aug. 17, the Baker-Hughes rig count and consumer sentiment report are anticipated. Earnings are due from Deere (DE).
