The first full trading week of 2018 will feature a packed economic schedule -- including the producer price index (PPI) on Thursday, and the consumer price index (CPI) on Friday. The Federal Reserve will remain in focus, with an onslaught of central bank officials slated to speak. Plus, Wall Street will get its first glimpse of fourth-quarter earnings season, with airline name Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) and big bank JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM) among those reporting quarterly results.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

On Monday, Jan. 8, Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren, Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic, and San Francisco Fed President John Williams will all speak. The November consumer credit report will also be released. Earnings from Barracuda Networks (CUDA) are due.

Tuesday, Jan. 9, will bring the NFIB small business optimism index, as well as the Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS). There will also be a speech from Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari. Acuity Brands (AYI) and Schnitzer Steel (SCHN) will report earnings.

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, investors will digest wholesale trade data, import and export prices, and weekly crude inventories. Chicago Fed President Charles Evans and St. Louis Fed President James Bullard are expected to speak. Delta (DAL), KB Home (KBH), Lennar (LEN), and Supervalu (SVU) will report earnings.

It's a busy day of economic data on Thursday, Jan. 11, that includes the PPI, the Treasury budget, the Fed's balance sheet, and weekly jobless claims. New York Fed President William Dudley will step up to the mic, as well. There are no earnings to note.

On Friday, Jan. 12, the CPI, retail sales, and business inventories highlight the action. Investors will also digest the Baker-Hughes weekly rig count. Big bank earnings start to roll in, too, with JPMorgan Chase (JPM), BlackRock (BLK), PNC Financial Services (PNC), and Wells Fargo (WFC) set to report. Rosengren will speak once more to close out the week.
