"Window dressing" could move stocks in the last week of the second quarter
The last week of the second quarter -- which could see some "
window dressing" -- will feature data on durable goods, personal income and spending, and the latest update on first-quarter gross domestic product (GDP). A handful of Fed members will step up to the mic, while blue chip
Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) and semiconductor maker
Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) will headline the relatively light slate of earnings reports on tap. In addition, the Senate could vote on the newly released
healthcare bill.
Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.
On
Monday, June 26, traders will digest the latest data on durable goods, and San Francisco Fed President John C. Williams is scheduled to speak at the University of Sydney in New South Wales. Schnitzer Steel (SCHN) will report earnings.
Looking at Tuesday, June 27, the Conference Board's consumer confidence index will be released, as well as the S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller home price index. Williams will continue his tour in Sydney, while Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker and Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari will speak. Darden Restaurants (DRI) and KB Home (KBH) will report earnings.
Wednesday, June 28, will feature the weekly crude inventories update, as well as the pending homes sales report and international trade data. Companies reporting earnings are General Mills (GIS), Pier 1 Imports (PIR), Paychex (PAYX), and Monsanto (MON).
Thursday, June 29, is a busy day, headlined by the latest GDP estimates for the first quarter.
