GDP Headlines a Busy Week of Fed Speeches

There are a number of Fed speeches slated throughout the trading week, with Chicago Fed President Charles Evans kicking things off Monday afternoon

The onslaught of Fed speeches will continue next week, with central bank officials scheduled to make an appearance on each trading day. Stocks will also have the chance to react to the final reading of fourth-quarter gross domestic product (GDP), which is due Thursday morning, as well as a pair of updates on the housing sector. While earnings season is all but over, quarterly results from retailer Lululemon Athletica and smartphone maker BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) are likely to draw some attention from the stock market.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

The week kicks off on Monday, March 27, with the Dallas Fed manufacturing index. Chicago Fed President Charles Evans will take the mic during the trading session, while Dallas Fed President Dennis Kaplan is slated to speak after the close. Cal-Maine Foods (CALM), Conn's (CONN), Digital Ally (DGLY), G-III Apparel Group (GIII), and Red Hat (RHT) will report earnings.

On Tuesday, March 28, traders will mull over the Census Bureau's international trade in goods report, as well as the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller home price index and the Conference Board's consumer confidence index. Kansas City Fed President Esther George and Kaplan are scheduled to speak. Carnival (CCL), Darden Restaurants (DRI), Dave & Buster's (PLAY), McCormick (MKC), Ollie's Bargain Outlet (OLLI), ReneSola (SOL), and Sonic (SONC) will step up to the earnings plate.

The tour of Fed speakers continues on Wednesday, March 29, when Evans will return to the mic. Joining him will be Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren, as well as San Francisco Fed President John Williams. On the economic front, updates on pending home sales and weekly crude inventories are due. Lululemon (LULU), Paychex (PAYX), and Progress Software (PRGS) will release their quarterly results.

The final reading on fourth-quarter GDP will headline the economic calendar on Thursday, March 30, while weekly jobless claims are also slated for release. On the central bank circuit, Kaplan, Williams, and Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester will take turns at the podium. AngioDynamics (ANGO) and Worthington Industries (WOR) are among those that will report earnings.

On Friday, March 31, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard will wrap up a week chock-full of Fed speeches. Wall Street will also parse over the latest personal income and spending data, the Chicago purchasing managers index (PMI), and the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment report. BlackBerry (BBRY) is due to unveil its earnings report.
