All eyes will be trained overseas next week, when, after months of speculation over "will they" or "won't they," the U.K. will finally vote whether it will remain in the European Union (EU). The "Brexit" referendum will occur on Thursday, with various polls showing increasing support for the "leave" camp.

Back on the homefront, the Fed will continue to be in focus next week, following this week's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting. Most notably, Fed Chair Janet Yellen will head to Capitol Hill to begin her semi-annual two-day testimony in front of Congress. Elsewhere, although the earnings calendar is light, there are still a handful of heavy hitters set to report. Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (NASDAQ:BBBY), for instance, could draw some attention in the wake of yesterday's M&A news, while FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) could create waves after its previous results were well-received on Wall Street.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

Monday, June 20

Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari will take the mic. There are no notable earnings to report.

Tuesday, June 21

Fed Chair Janet Yellen will speak before the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday. Earnings are due from CarMax (KMX), FedEx (FDX), Lennar (LEN), KB Home (KBH), and La-Z-Boy (LZB).

Wednesday, June 22

Existing home sales and the regularly scheduled crude inventories update will hit the Street on Wednesday. Additionally, Yellen will continue her stay on Capitol Hill, testifying in front of the House Financial Services Committee. Actuant (ATU), Barnes & Noble (BKS), Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY), and Red Hat (RHT) will tell all in the earnings confessional.

Thursday, June 23

Weekly jobless claims, Markit's flash purchasing managers index (PMI), and new home sales are due on Thursday, but all eyes will be on the "Brexit" referendum. Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan will deliver a speech after the close. Stepping up to the earnings plate are Accenture (ACN), BlackBerry (BBRY), and Sonic (SONC).

Friday, June 24

The week wraps up with durable goods orders, as well as the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey. Finish Line (FINL) will report earnings.
