In a potentially unfortunate scenario for the broader market, Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA) kicked off earnings season on a dismal note this week. While blue-chip banking bigwig JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) took a decidedly different route with its results, the action was only a sampling of what next week has in store. Specifically, a handful of blue chips -- including American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) and General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) -- as well as a number of financial firms are preparing to take their spots on the earnings stage. Meanwhile, on the economic front, a number of updates on the housing market could garner some attention.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.
