A fairly quiet week is likely ahead, with U.S. markets closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, and holding shortened trading hours on Black Friday. Housing data and consumer sentiment figures will trickle in, and traders will also be eyeing the latest gross domestic product (GDP) estimate for more rate-hike clues. Meanwhile, things are winding down for this quarterly earnings season, but there are a few notables in line to report. What's more, these 30 stocks could carve out some decent gains, if history is any indicator.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

Monday, 11/23

The week begins with the flash purchasing managers manufacturing index (PMI), as well as existing home sales data. Brocade Communications (BRCD), GameStop (GME), Mallinckrodt (MNK), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Trina Solar (TSL), and Tyson Foods (TSN) will hit the earnings booth.

Tuesday, 11/24

The latest gross domestic product (GDP) estimate will start the day, followed by the S&P-Case-Shiller home price index and the Conference Board's consumer confidence stats.

For earnings, Analog Devices (ADI), Campbell Soup (CPB), Chico's FAS (CHS), Cracker Barrel (CBRL), Dollar Tree (DLTR), DSW (DSW), Guess? (GES), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Seadrill (SDRL), Tiffany & Co (TIF), and TiVo (TIVO) will enter the confessional.

Wednesday, 11/25

The busiest day of the week will bring reports on durable goods, weekly jobless claims, personal income and spending, and new home sales, plus the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index and the regularly scheduled crude inventories data. Deere (DE) will step into the earnings spotlight.

Thursday, 11/26

Markets will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Friday, 11/27

The calendar will be quiet, as U.S. markets will close at 1:00 p.m. ET on Black Friday.
