Today's stocks to watch include Apple Inc. (AAPL), Google Inc (GOOGL), and BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY)
Fed Chair Janet Yellen's comments on a potential rate hike have U.S. indexes moving higher this morning. Today's equities in focus are tech giants Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), as well as handset maker BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY).
- The iPhone 6s is finally here, and the global hype has AAPL 1.1% higher at $116.24. Many on the Street are likely hoping this success will be short lived, however. For instance, bearish betting has picked up in a big way in the stock's options pits during the past two weeks. Then there's short interest, which has increased by nearly 31% during the two most recent reporting periods. There's a chance Apple Inc. could get a lift on the charts if this pessimism begins to unwind.
- GOOGL is sitting out the rally, down 0.1% at $653.97, amid reports the company is again being targeted by U.S. antitrust officials. On the charts, the stock is up nearly 24% in 2015, which has led to a bullish sentiment backdrop throughout the Street. Among the 32 analysts that cover Google Inc, 30 consider it at least a "buy."
