While retail earnings continue to roll in next week, all eyes will be turned to Thursday's gross domestic product (GDP) release. We'll also hear from Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Dennis Lockhart, and the annual economic policy symposium will kick off in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Among retailers presenting their quarterly results will be Best Buy (BBY), Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF), Dollar General (DG), and GameStop (GME). We'll also hear the latest quarterly results from builder Toll Brothers (TOL) amid a wave of housing data -- and a handful of other notables are also set to report, including NQ Mobile (NQ), Splunk (SPLK), and Smith & Wesson (SWHC).

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

Monday 8/24

Monday kicks off quietly, with only the Chicago Fed's national activity index on tap. Later in the day, Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart will speak in Berkeley, California. Turning to earnings, Tuniu (TOUR), Premier (PINC), and Qunar Cayman Islands (QUNR) all report quarterly results.

Tuesday 8/25

New home sales, the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index, and the Conference Board's consumer confidence index will be released on Tuesday. Retailers Best Buy (BBY), DSW Inc. (DSW), and Childrens Place (PLCE) are set to report earnings, while Bank of Montreal (BMO), Daktronics (DAKT), ReneSola (SOL), Solera (SLH), and Toll Brothers (TOL) will also announce quarterly results.

Wednesday 8/26

Wednesday features the release of durable goods orders and weekly crude inventories. More retailers step into the earnings confessional, with Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF), Chico's (CHS), Express (EXPR), Guess? (GES), Tilly's (TLYS), and Williams-Sonoma (WSM) all on tap. Also set to report are Avago Tech (AVGO), NQ Mobile (NQ), and Workday (WDAY).

Thursday 8/27

The big news on Thursday is the morning release of preliminary second-quarter gross domestic product (GDP), due out at 8:30 a.m. ET. Weekly jobless claims, pending home sales, and natural gas inventories are also on the schedule. It's worth noting that Thursday is the first day of the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium -- though Fed Chair Janet Yellen won't be attending the conference this year.

Meanwhile, retail earnings just don't stop. Thursday's docket includes quarterly results from 1-800-FLOWERS (FLWS), Aeropostale (ARO), bebe stores (BEBE), Dollar General (DG), GameStop (GME), Tiffany & Co (TIF), and Ulta Salon (ULTA). Outside of retail, Autodesk (ADSK), J.M. Smucker (SJM), OmniVision Technologies (OVTI), Seadrill (SDRL), Splunk (SPLK), and Smith & Wesson (SWHC) are also set to report.

Friday 8/28

The Jackson Hole conference wraps up on Friday, while investors will be mulling over the latest personal income and spending data, plus the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index. Regis (RGS) and Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) will bring the week's earnings to a close.
