Agilent Technologies Inc (NYSE:A) is scheduled to release fourth-quarter financial results after the close on Monday, Nov. 25. Analysts expect the medical research name to report earnings of $1.41 per share -- a 2.2% year-over-year increase -- on revenue of $1.67 billion.

Looking back on its past eight post-earnings performances, A's history of next-day returns are split, with four positive and four negative. The equity averaged a move of 5.3%, regardless of direction in the last two years, and the options pits are pricing in a slightly bigger swing of 7.6% this time around.

Agilent Technologies stock is 0.9% higher at $126.83 at last glance, as it bounces off its lowest close since July on its way to snap a four-day losing streak. The shares ultimately failed to remain above the 40-day moving average in November, and now carry an 8.6% year-to-date deficit.

It's worth pointing out that the company's earnings report happens during Thanksgiving week, which tends to be bullish for the S&P 500 Index (SPX). During the holiday week in 2023, Agilent Technologies stock added 11.9%, and in 2022 it added 7.4%. In fact, looking back the last 10 years, A finished Thanksgiving week lower just three times.
