Unusual Options Activity: WLL, TWTR, FOLD, and MDCO

The Dow traded in the red from start to finish, ending the day nearly 115 points lower. Across all 12 options exchanges, 5.9 million calls crossed, compared to 6.1 million puts. The day's put/call volume ratio closed at 1.03.  


Whiting Petroleum Corp (NYSE:WLL) call volume ran at more than twice the normal level, amid the energy sector's surprising turnaroundTwitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) calls also changed hands at a faster-than-usual rate, after the stock received some positive analyst attention

On the put side, Amicus Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:FOLD) saw volume rise to double the norm, after this morning's M&A news. Elsewhere, puts for sector peer The Medicines Company (NASDAQ:MDCO) crossed at roughly 10 times the average rate, despite the company's promising drug news
