Next week's economic calendar is much quieter than usual, but corporate earnings more than make up for it as second-quarter reporting season shifts into high gear. General Motors (GM) and Northrop Grumman (NOC) kick things off Tuesday, followed by Alphabet (GOOGL), Tesla (TSLA), and Philip Morris International (PM) on Wednesday. Thursday is stacked with Lockheed Martin (LMT), RTX, American Airlines (AAL), T-Mobile US (TMUS), Blackstone (BX), STMicroelectronics (STM), Freeport-McMoRan (FCX), Dow (DOW), Nokia (NOK), and Cleveland-Cliffs (CLF). Verizon Communications (VZ) closes out the week Friday.

Below is the schedule of key market events for the week ahead. All economic dates are tentative and subject to change.

Monday, July 20 is a quiet day on the economic front, with no major U.S. data releases scheduled.

Tuesday, July 21 remains light on the economic calendar.

Wednesday, July 22 also lacks major scheduled data.

Thursday, July 23 brings the European Central Bank's (ECB) rate decision.

Friday, July 24 wraps up the week with the preliminary July S&P Global U.S. manufacturing, services, and composite PMI readings.
