The Week Ahead: Holiday-Shortened Week Brings Nike Earnings

Next week will be packed with closely watched economic data, highlighted by the May jobs report, and capped early by a holiday-shortened week. Investors will also monitor manufacturing activity, consumer confidence, and other key economic indicators for additional clues on inflation. On the earnings front, AeroVironment (AVAV)Constellation Brands (STZ), General Mills (GIS), and Nike (NKE) are all scheduled to report. 

Below is the schedule of key market events for the week ahead. All economic dates are tentative and subject to change.

Monday, June 29, there are no major economic reports scheduled.

Tuesday, June 30 features S&P Cotality Case-Shiller Home Price Index, Chicago Business Barometer, Consumer Confidence Index, as well as job openings and labor turnover survey for May.

Wednesday, July 1 brings ADP National employment report, U.S. manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI), ISM report on business manufacturing PMI, and construction spending.

Thursday, July 2, is packed with weekly jobless claims, employment report, unemployment rate, and factory orders.

The stock market will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day.
