Coming Up: Economic Data Closes Out MLK Week

3M, Procter & Gamble, and Netflix will all report earnings

The holiday-shortened week starts off slow on Tuesday, though action will pick up by the end of the week, with a slew of economic data scheduled for Friday. Some previously delayed economic indicators are set to be released throughout the week. Earnings season is firmly underway as well, with reports from 3M (MMM), D.R. Horton (DHI), Fastenal (FAST), Freeport McMoran (FCX), GE Aerospace (GE), Intel (INTC), Netflix (NFLX), Procter & Gamble (PG), United Airlines (UAL), to name a few. 

Below is the schedule of key market events for the week ahead. All economic dates are tentative and subject to change.

The stock market is closed on Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 

There is no economic data scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Wednesday, Jan. 21, will bring pending home sales and construction spending data. 

Thursday, Jan. 22, features regularly scheduled jobs data, as well as gross domestic product (GDP) data. 

It gets busy on Friday, Jan. 23, with the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, core PCE index, S&P flash U.S. services purchasing managers' index (PMI), S&P flash U.S. manufacturing PMI all scheduled for release. Personal income and personal spending data is on tap as well.
