Plenty of key economic indicators are due out next week, but it's unclear whether or not investors will be able to sift through them due to the government shutdown, which is now on its fourth week. Durable goods orders, jobless claims, and the personal consumption expenditures index (PCE) are subject to delays, but investors will still have a handful of other data to unpack as they await the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.

Earnings season carries on full speed ahead, with results to come from Amazon.com (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Bloom Energy (BE), Caesars Entertainment (CZR), Caterpillar (CAT), Chevron (CVX), CVS Health (CVS), D.R. Horton (DHI),  eBay (EBAY), Eli Lilly (LLY), Enphase Energy (ENPH), JetBlue Airways (JBLU), Meta Platforms (META), Microsoft (MSFT), PayPal (PYPL), SoFi Technologies (SOFI), Reddit (RDDT), Verizon Communications (VZ), Visa (V), and Wayfair (W), to name a few.

Below is the schedule of key market events for the week ahead. Please note that some data may not be available due to the government shutdown. All economic dates are tentative and subject to change.

Monday, Oct. 27 features durable goods orders.

Tuesday, Oct. 28. brings the S&P Case-Shiller home price index as well as consumer confidence data.

The advanced U.S. trade balance in goods, retail inventories, and wholesale inventories are slated for release on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Pending home sales are also due out, in addition to the Fed's interest rate decision, which will be followed by a press conference with Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

Weekly jobless claims and a GDP update are due out on Thursday, Oct. 30.

Friday, Oct. 31 brings a host of information, including the employment cost index, personal income and spending data, and the PCE and core PCE indexes. The Chicago Business Barometer (PMI) is set to come out as well, with both Cleveland Fed President Hammack and Atlanta Fed President Bostic set to deliver remarks.
