While the bulk of third-quarter earnings season has passed, there are still a number of notable names left to report. This week will feature quarterly results from embattled biotechs Valeant Pharmaceuticals Intl Inc (NYSE:VRX) and Mylan NV (NASDAQ:MYL), while Macy's Inc (NYSE:M) and Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE:JWN) will headline a busy week of retail earnings. Nevertheless, the week's big event takes place on Tuesday, when U.S. voters head to the polls to vote in the presidential election -- and recent polls suggest the race between Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump is neck and neck. Additionally, an onslaught of Fed speeches will be in the spotlight, amid heightened expectations of a December rate hike.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

While the economic calendar is bare on Monday, Nov. 7, Chicago Fed President Charles Evans is scheduled to speak at 2:45 p.m. ET. A number of drug companies are slated to report earnings, including ACADIA Pharmaceuticals (ACAD), Amicus Therapeutics (FOLD), Ariad Pharmaceuticals (ARIA), Depomed (DEPO), Halozyme Therapeutics (HALO), and Horizon Pharma (HZNP). Dean Foods (DF), Hertz Global (HTZ), IAMGOLD (IAG), MGM Resorts (MGM), Microchip Technology (MCHP), Plug Power (PLUG), and Priceline Group (PCLN) will also report.

Evans is also slated to speak twice on Tuesday, Nov. 8, while the Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) will also be released. However, Wall Street will mostly be focused on the U.S. presidential election. On the earnings front, Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX), CVS Health (CVS), D.R. Horton (DHI), Eagle Bulk Shipping (EGLE), Fuel Tech (FTEK), Hecla Mining (HL), SeaWorld Entertainment (SEAS), TripAdvisor (TRIP), Vivint Solar (VSLR), and Wayfair (W) are slated to unveil their quarterly results.

The action on Wednesday, Nov. 9 will likely be dedicated to the outcome of the election, while Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari and San Francisco President John Williams are also scheduled to speak. The weekly crude inventories update is also on tap. Reporting earnings will be Crocs (CROX), DISH Network (DISH), Kite Pharma (KITE), MannKind (MNKD), Mylan (MYL), Shake Shack (SHAK), SunPower (SPWR), TASER International (TASR), Viacom (VIAB), VIVUS (VVUS), and Wendy's (WEN).

Weekly jobless claims will be reported on Thursday, Nov. 10, while St. Louis Fed President James Bullard will take the mic. Later in the session, the Treasury Budget will be released. Dow component Walt Disney (DIS) will take its turn in the earnings confessional bright and early. Additionally, AstraZeneca (AZN), Kohl's (KSS), Macy's (M), Michael Kors (KORS), Nordstrom (JWN), NVIDIA (NVDA), Ralph Lauren (RL), Sunrun (RUN), and SodaStream (SODA) are due to report.

Banks in the U.S. will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11 in honor of Veteran's Day. However, the market will remain open, giving traders the chance to digest the preliminary Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index for November. J. C. Penney (JCP) will round out a week chock-full of retail earnings, while offshore driller Atwood Oceanics (ATW) will also report.
