Although aluminum company Alcoa (AA) unofficially kicks off third-quarter earnings season with its report on Tuesday, the earnings slate is rather bare next week, save Friday. That's when banking giants JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM)Wells Fargo & Co (NYSE:WFC), and Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) will step into the earnings confessional. Meanwhile, the most notable economic report will be Wednesday's release of the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) September meeting minutes, though traders will also be anxious to hear what Fed Chair Janet Yellen has to say during her speech on Friday.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

Monday, October 10

There are no economic reports on Monday's slate, but Chicago Federal Reserve President Charles Evans will speak. There are also no notable earnings reports for the day.

Tuesday, October 11

The economic calendar is essentially bare on Tuesday, as well. AA earnings will hit the Street ahead of the opening bell, while Barracuda Networks (CUDA) will report later in the day.

On the earnings front, CSX Corporation (CSX) will step up to the mic.

Thursday, October 13

Weekly jobless claims, import and export prices, weekly crude inventories, and the Treasury budget make up Thursday's economic docket. Philadelphia Federal Reserve President Patrick Harker is slated to speak in the afternoon. As for earnings, Progressive (PGR) and Taiwan Semiconductors (TSM) will be in the spotlight.

Friday, October 14

Friday is the busiest day of the week, highlighted by a midday speech from Fed Chair Janet Yellen. Boston Federal Reserve Bank President Eric Rosengren will speak, as well. On the data front, the producer price index (PPI), retail sales, business inventories, and consumer sentiment are all due out.
