Buzz Stocks: Horizon Pharma PLC, Delta Air Lines, Inc., and Mattress Firm Holding Corp

U.S. stocks are up as traders continue to cheer last week's upbeat jobs report. Among equities in focus today are biotech Horizon Pharma PLC (NASDAQ:HZNP), airline stock Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL), and mattress retailer Mattress Firm Holding Corp (NASDAQ:MFRM).

HZNP is up 8.2% at $21.75, after delivering an earnings beat. HZNP now sits in positive year-to-date territory, and has rallied nearly 67% since its year-to-date low of $13.05 in early May. Horizon Pharma PLC's option players will likely be cheering this latest news, with HZNP's 50-day call/put volume ratio at the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX) of 13.70 sitting higher than 96% of all other readings from the past year, showing an exceptionally bullish sentiment towards the stock.

DAL was down more than 4% in pre-market trading, after a global computer system outage forced the airline to temporarily delay or cancel flights, leaving thousands of customers stranded. However, DAL has since clawed 0.3% higher to sit at $37.79, after the ground stop was lifted. Delta Air Lines, Inc. has had a rough year so far, down 25.7% since the beginning of 2016, touching an annual low of $32.60 in late June. Currently, nine out of 10 analysts rate DAL a "buy" or better, leaving the door wide open for a slew of downgrades to pressure the stock lower.

MFRM is up 114.1% at $63.67, after announcing it will be purchased by South African furniture retailer Steinhoff International Holdings NV for $64 per share, or $2.4 billion in cash. This sudden boost puts MFRM shares back in the black year-over-year, with MFRM now sitting up 2.7% since August 2015. There's a good number of short sellers likely kicking rocks after this latest announcement, with 45.1% of Mattress Firm Holding Corp's float sold short -- an amount that would take over 40 days of trading to cover, at MFRM's average daily volume.
