U.S. stocks were higher after Bank of England (BoE) announced an interest rate cut, but have since retreated into the red. Among equities in focus today are electric vehicle maker Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), natural gas company Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK), and railroad stock Canadian Pacific Railway Limited (USA) (NYSE:CP).

  • CP is down 3.6% at $142.05, on news that activist investor Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Capital Management LP had sold its entire stake in the company. According to Ackman, CP "has completed an incredible transformation" since his 2011 investment, and he sees "continued success" for CP's future. Canadian Pacific Railway Limited (USA) has more than tripled since its 2011 low, but is still 35% off its 2014 high north of $220. Analysts seem largely positive toward the stock, with 67% rating CP a "buy" or better, and without a single "sell" on the books.
