Earnings season kicks into high gear, with Dow members JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Intel (INTC) and General Electric (GE) all set to report. Plus, several Federal Reserve officials will speak, and Wednesday brings the release of the Fed's Beige Book. Investors will likely pore over all of this information closely for any hints of a rate hike by the end of the year -- particularly with a fresh batch of inflation data also slated for release.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

Monday, 10/12

While banks are closed Monday for Columbus Day, the market is open. Chicago Fed President Charles Evans will speak on monetary policy in Chicago at 10:30 a.m. ET. After the close of trading, Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard will speak on the economic outlook to the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) in Washington. The lone company reporting earnings is Infosys (INFY).

Tuesday, 10/13

Tuesday's economic docket remains light, with the afternoon release of the Treasury budget the sole highlight. However, before the market opens, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard will address the NABE on the economy and monetary policy. Dow components Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), and Intel (INTC) are all expected to report earnings.

Wednesday, 10/14

The data flow picks up on Wednesday, with the producer price index (PPI), retail sales, business inventories, and the Fed's latest Beige Book report due out. Bank of America (BAC), BlackRock (BLK), Delta Air Lines (DAL), Netflix (NFLX), Wells Fargo (WFC), and Xilinx (XLNX) will all announce earnings.

Thursday, 10/15

News continues at a fast pace on Thursday, with the consumer price index (CPI), weekly jobless claims, the Empire State manufacturing index, the Philadelphia Fed index, and the holiday-delayed weekly crude inventories scheduled for release. Plus, New York Fed President William Dudley is set to speak in Washington.

It should be a banner day for earnings news, with Goldman Sachs (GS), UnitedHealth Group (UNH), Alphabet (GOOGL), Blackstone Group (BX), Citigroup (C), Mattel (MAT), Philip Morris (PM), and Schlumberger (SLB) set to report.

Friday, 10/16

The week winds down with industrial production and capacity utilization, the Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), and the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index. Along with blue-chip conglomerate General Electric (GE), Honeywell (HON), Progressive (PGR), and SunTrust Banks (STI) are also scheduled to unveil their quarterly results.
