Next week's calendar features retail data, Fed speeches, and a historic trip to Cuba
Retail is in the crosshairs next week, with a slew of retailers set to report earnings and the latest monthly sales figures released. In addition, we will hear quarterly reports from the likes of Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO), Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (BABA), and Cyberark Software Ltd (CYBR), speeches from two Fed officials, and the week is punctuated by reports on inflation and industrial production.
Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.
Monday 8/10
The news slate is light on Monday, with only Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart scheduled to speak in Atlanta.
Turning to earnings, MannKind (MNKD), CenterPoint Energy (CNP), Dean Foods Co (DF), Halozyme Therapeutics (HALO), International Flavors & Fragrances Inc (IFF), Kite Pharma Inc (KITE), Kraft Heinz Co (KHC), Rackspace (RAX), Shake Shack (SHAK), and Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (TTWO) will all report quarterly results.
Tuesday 8/11
Nonfarm productivity, unit labor costs, and wholesale inventories will all be revealed Tuesday morning.
Cyberark Software Ltd (CYBR), Cree, Inc. (CREE), JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) (JASO), Fossil Group Inc (FOSL), Magic Software Enterprises Ltd. (MGIC), Myriad Genetics, Inc. (MYGN), Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc. (RRGB), and Symantec Corporation (SYMC) will take their turns in the earnings spotlight.
Wednesday 8/12
The Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) for June, weekly crude inventories, and the Treasury budget will be released Wednesday. New York Fed President William Dudley will also speak in Rochester, New York.
Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO), Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (BABA), Aramark (ARMK), Macy's Inc. (M), Netease.com (NTES), News Corp (NWSA), and Wayfair (W) are all scheduled to report earnings.
Thursday 8/13
Thursday's economic news features weekly jobless claims, July retail sales, July import and export prices, and business inventories.
Advance Auto Parts, Inc. (AAP), Applied Materials, Inc. (AMAT), CafePress Inc (PRSS), El Pollo LoCo Holdings Inc (LOCO), Kohl's Corporation (KSS), Nordstrom, Inc. (JWN), Pan American Silver (PAAS), Tribune Media Co. (TRCO), and YY Inc (YY) will announce quarterly earnings.
Friday 8/14
Rounding out the week is the producer price index (PPI) and core PPI for July, industrial production and capacity utilization stats, and the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index. In addition, Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to make a historic trip to Havana, Cuba, to raise the flag over the U.S. embassy.
The earnings spotlight will be a lonely place, with the sole focus falling upon retailer J C Penney Company Inc (JCP).
