All three major benchmarks are lower before the bell
Following a strong holiday week, futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI), S&P 500 Index (SPX), and Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX) are all firmly lower this morning, as tech stocks succumb to end-of-the-year profit taking. Mining stocks are also taking a hit, as gold and silver prices turn sharply lower, the latter after jumping above $80 for the first time in overnight trading. Looking ahead, traders will be eyeing the release of meeting minutes from the Federal Reserve, which will close out the year on Wednesday.
