Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE:ANF) is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings before the market opens on Wednesday, Aug. 26. According to Zacks Research, analysts expect earnings of $1.90 per share on projected revenues of $1.24 billion. At last glance, ANF is trading down 2.1% at $103.19.

Options traders are pricing in an 15.5% post-earnings move, regardless of direction, larger than ANF's average reaction of 12.2% over the last eight quarters. The shares have finished higher after just three of those eight reports, including a 37.5% pop in November.

At last glance, ANF was trading near the site of its July highs at $100, after suffering a rejection at $120. The shares popped up for air yesterday but are eyeing a seventh loss in the last eight sessions. The equity has struggled to maintain annual gains too, last seen down 17% in 2026.

However, options traders are remaining optimistic. At the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Cboe Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX), the retail stock's 50-day call/put volume ratio of 2.09 ranks higher than 78% of readings from the past year.

Plus, short interest has been on the rise, now representing 8.31% of the stock's available float. At ANF's average daily trading volume, it would take short sellers nearly three days to buy back their bearish bets.

Lastly, ANF's Schaeffer's Volatility Scorecard (SVS) sits at a relatively high 94 out of 100, indicating the stock has tended to exceed option traders' volatility expectations during the past year.
