Bloom Energy Stock Tests Support Before Earnings

Bloom Energy Corp (NYSE:BE) is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings after the market closes on Tuesday, July 28. Analysts at Zacks Research estimate earnings per share of $0.39 on revenue of $766.88 million.
 
In terms of earnings history, the energy stock has closed six of its last eight next-day sessions higher, including a 27.2% pop following its April report. Options traders are bracing for a sizeable post-earnings swing of 12.1%, compared to the average 28.2% shift over the past eight quarters.
 
Ahead of the event, BE is pacing for a fourth-straight daily loss and testing support at the 200-day moving average. Year-over-year, the equity remains up 432%.

BE sports a 10-day put/call volume ratio of 2.33 on the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX). This ratio sits in the 95th percentile of its annual range, hinting at a much healthier-than-usual appetite for bearish bets over bullish of late.

Lastly, Bloom Energy's Schaeffer's Volatility Scorecard (SVS) comes in at 85 out of 100, meaning the stock has tended to exceed option traders' volatility expectations during the past year.
