Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings after the market closes on Wednesday, July 22. Analysts at Zacks Research are expecting earnings per share of $0.50 on revenue of $25.81 billion.

The electric vehicle (EV) maker has closed four of its last eight next-day sessions higher, including a 21.9% pop in October 2024. Options traders are bracing for a sizeable post-earnings swing of 11%, compared to the average 7.5% shift over the past eight quarters.

On the charts, the shares have shed 15% year-to-date and are looking to rebound off the 360-day moving average, shaking off their last two rejections.

It's worth noting that Tesla's Schaeffer's Volatility Scorecard (SVS) comes in at 13 out of 100. In other words, the stock has consistently realized lower volatility than its options have priced in over the past 12 months, making it a premium-selling candidate.

The $25K Day Trading Barrier is Gone

The long-standing Pattern Day Trader (PDT) rule that required many traders to maintain a $25,000 account balance is no longer standing in the way.

That means more traders can actively pursue short-term opportunities without the barrier that kept so many on the sidelines.

Now it's all about having the right strategy.
