Be alerted whenever anyone nears your door

Do you miss visitors because you can't hear the doorbell in certain locations throughout the house? Or would you appreciate the added peace of mind of knowing when someone is at your door — even if they don't knock or ring the doorbell? Easily install these inexpensive components, and in a matter of minutes, you'll have a "smart door" that provides security and convenience you'll wonder how you ever did without!

Wireless X10 Motion Sensor

Powered by SmartHome

The foundation of the "smart door" solution is built upon the Wireless X10 Motion Sensor and a Chime Module. The motion sensor is a small battery powered unit that can stick on a wall with double-sided tape. It can be easily installed in any weather-protected location, and will signal whenever it detects motion within its field of view. It even has a feature that permits it to work either all the time or only at night! The Wireless X10 Motion Sensor is not weatherproof, therefore should be kept out of the rain and/or direct sunlight.

X10 16 Device RF Base

Powered by SmartHome

The X10 16 Device RF Base will catch the radio signal from the motion sensor. It is a plug-in device that converts radio signals into X10 signals for the electricity line. Place it within 50 feet of the motion sensor for best results. It also has a built-in Appliance Module that can turn on a light or just about any electrical device. The motion sensor will send an "ON" signal when movement is detected and after the movement has stopped, it will send an "OFF" signal after a certain number of minutes (adjustable by you). For a constant "lived-in" look, the X10 16 Device RF Base could turn on a table light whenever it receives a signal from the motion sensor guarding the door.

Chime Module

Powered by SmartHome

The X10 16 Device RF Base will also send out an X10 signal over the electricity lines in your home to any X10 receiver. You can use a Chime Module to audibly alert you when someone is at the door. A Chime Module will produce a pleasant 'Ding-dong' sound when it receives an X10 signal. Click on the image of the Chime Module to hear the sound. You can have an unlimited number of Chime Modules in your home. Just set them all to the same house and unit code, and you'll know when someone is at the door whether you're in the garage, in the laundry room, or anywhere there's an electrical outlet and a Chime Module.

Universal Module

Powered by SmartHome

If you need something with a louder signal, try the Universal Module. It has a louder audible sounder built-in which can produce a continuous warning sound or just sound off for three seconds. If you are a heavy sleeper and the two-second Chime Module's 'Ding-Dong' won't wake you, try the Universal Module. When it receives an X10 signal from the X10 16 Device RF Base, it can continuously sound until it either receives an "OFF" signal or you press the "OFF" button on the front of the Universal Module. Click on the image of the Universal Module to hear a sample of it's sounder.

Note: Both the Chime Module and Universal Modules can be unplugged during times that they are not needed to avoid unnecessary noise in the home.

X10 Powerflash Module

Powered by SmartHome

There are other triggering devices that can be used besides motion sensors. We carry a device that can send an X10 signal when a set of contacts close. The X10 Powerflash Module will send an X10 ON signal when a Normally Open sensor is closed. For example, you could connect a set of contacts to a front or side gate, and run wiring from the contacts to the X10 Powerflash Module. When the gate opens, it will cause the Powerflash Module to send an X10 ON signal to the Chime Module or Universal Module. When the gate closes, the Powerflash sends an OFF signal. You can even wire a simple non-lighted doorbell button to the X10 Powerflash Module, providing conventional doorbell functionality, but with the ability to turn on lights and provide notification anywhere a Chime or Universal module is plugged in.
