U.S. stocks are looking to recover at least some of yesterday's sizable losses, as investors dust themselves off and prepare for the trading session ahead. Meanwhile, here are some stocks making news today:

  • Earnings news: Whole Foods Market, Inc. (NASDAQ:WFM) reported fourth-quarter earnings of 60 cents, matching estimates, while revenue rose 23% to $2.9 billion, also in line with analysts' expectations (CNBC); QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) announced a 20% surge in fourth-quarter earnings to 89 cents per share (excluding items) and a 18% jump in revenue to $4.87 billion. Both figures topped analysts' consensus expectations (MarketWatch); Monster Beverage Corp (NASDAQ:MNST) announced earnings of 47 cents per share, falling short of analysts' expectations. Sales rose 14% but also failed to match Wall Street expectations. (CNN Money)

  • The bad news is -- Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has dropped 20% from its mid-September high now so is now officially in bear-market territory. The good news, however, is that shares are still up 38% in 2012 and the company is still the most valuable one in the world. (CNN Money)

  • Toyota Motor Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:TM) is recalling more than 11,000 Scion iQ minicars due to concerns about its passenger-seat airbags. (USA Today)

  • Wake up from that Thanksgiving-evening nap -- it's time to shop! Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) has pushed back the start of its "Black Friday" sale by two hours to 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Special offers for the biggest shopping day of the year include a discounted second-generation iPad for $399 (with a $75 WMT gift card) and a 32-inch Emerson LCD TV for $148. (Chicago Tribune)

  • Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) has quickly equipped 7,000 of its stores to accept payments via Square Wallet. The move is a push to efficiency, as it theoretically could mean the end of cash registers. (TechCrunch)

  • And finally, Jermaine Jackson -- former Jackson 5 member and brother to the late Michael -- has requested a change of his last name to Jacksun, citing artistic reasons. Well, that makes sense. (TMZ)
