Similarity #1: Jed Clampett and BP have both discovered massive amounts of oil.
- While the leader of the Clampett clan was shootin' at some food, out from the ground came a bubblin' crude (oil, that is... black gold, Texas tea). On the other hand, BP made a massive natural gas discovery while actually hunting for natural gas. The company today discovered a new high-pressure reservoir of gas in its Shah Deniz field in Azerbaijan.
Similarity #2: The Clampetts and BP both have maaaassive money.
- Oh, if Mr. Drysdale were alive today, he would court BP to the ends of Rodeo Drive. The company has surfed the waves of crude's record highs, but, since the aforementioned gas discovery, shares of the equity have seen little volatility. The slumbersome shares are attributable to the fact that high-pressure natural gas discoveries usually don't see immediate production. Regardless, BP execs surely do well for themselves...
Similarity #3: Dash Riprock (Elly's on-again, off-again boyfriend) and Shah Deniz.
- Think it's a coincidence that the word "Dash" can be found in the words "Shah Deniz"? Okay, so maybe I'm stretching a bit. Hmm... maybe Jethro could finally end his career search as a financial writer after all.

"Hi, I'm new to this options game and am just starting to learn the basic. Essentially I'm a resource bug and a dollar basher. I've heard of a euro dollar cd contract that I would like to buy a put on. I don't know where to find the trading symbol. Can anyone help me? Thanks. bluegrass " Respond
"With monetary crisis, competing currency devauations, wars and rumblings of the Kurds, foreign govenments 'diversifying' out of the dollar, dollar making new lows, bank and hedgefund failures (reserve banks contorting to prop them up running the presses full time and full speed to make ever more (dare I say 'worthless') fiat currency, etc., etc., it certainly appears prudent to put some chips on gold--- both short and long term. And uranium (the metal and the stocks) looks very tempting at current levels, and with a bull in uranium as far as the eye can see...and probably a good ways beyond. Today my money will be spent on the uranium stocks. Short term vision will be a lot more clear when we hear about earnings from MER tomorrow---at least for those who are mesmetized by such blips on the BIG screen." Respond

Bullish call spreads are known by a variety of different names among options traders. But whether the position is a bull call spread, bullish debit spread, or a long vertical call spread, it is still constructed by purchasing an at-the-money or in-the-money call while simultaneously selling an out-of-the-money call. The reasoning behind pairing up these seemingly contradictory options is really quite simple: limited risk. read more...
