The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) is pointed lower ahead of the bell, as traders prepare to digest the day's domestic data. "Stocks were strong across the board yesterday, as basic materials and energy names led the charge amid a slew of economic data and earnings releases," said Schaeffer's Senior Options Strategist Tony Venosa. However, the blue-chip barometer's three-day winning streak is at risk, with futures down 21 points.
"Keep your eye on the financial sector today," continued Venosa. "A number of banking issues are reporting earnings this morning."
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average are roughly 21 points below fair value.
Equity option activity on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) saw 1,112,158 call contracts traded on Tuesday, compared to 681,129 put contracts. The resultant single-session put/call ratio dropped to 0.61, while the 21-day moving average stayed at 0.67.
