"The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDEXDJX:.DJI) took a breather yesterday," commented Schaeffer's Senior Options Strategist Tony Venosa, CMT. "Although technology shares finished modestly higher, large-cap names slipped." However, the blue-chip barometer is poised to resume its uptrend this morning -- and record a third consecutive weekly win in the process.
In today's session, Venosa reminds us that, "While there are no economic reports slated for release, it is quadruple-witching expiration." Additionally, the Fed will remain in focus, with a number of central bank officials scheduled to give speeches throughout the day. Also garnering its fair share of attention will be the looming debt ceiling, as the deadline for a government shutdown approaches sooner rather than later.
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average 2 Minute (INDEXDJX:.DJI) are more than 20 points above fair value.
The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) saw 1,334,625 call contracts traded on Thursday, compared to 764,473 put contracts. Both the resultant single-session put/call ratio and the 21-day moving average arrived at 0.57.
