The stock market is poised to open in the red, with futures pointed lower ahead of the bell. In company news, here are some stocks to watch today:

  • According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) is a considering a foray into the original online-programming space. Specifically, the Web juggernaut wants to produce four comedy series with budgets of up to $1 million per half-hour episode. (TIME)

  • Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) (NYSE:POT) has named Inmet Mining Corp's Jochen Tilk as its next president and CEO. Tilk, who will assume the top job on July 1, will replace Bill Doyle, who has been leading POT since 1999. (Reuters)

  • Mallinckrodt PLC (NYSE:MNK) has struck a deal to acquire Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:QCOR) for $5.6 billion, or $86.08 per share. The move adds QCOR's H.P. Acthar Gel, which grossed $761.3 million last year (a 50% increase over 2012 sales), to MNK's portfolio of specialty drugs. (Bloomberg)

  • The latest trial results for Pfizer Inc.'s (NYSE:PFE) experimental breast cancer treatment, palbociclib, were very encouraging. While not all of the data was statistically significant due to the study's small size, the women who did receive the pill went nearly twice as long as a control group before their tumors grew, and the median survival increased by over four months.   • Finally, for all the Nintendo players out there, a California entrepreneur has created an oven mitt patterned after the video game system's Power Glove. The designer encourages would-be buyers to act quickly, however, as the Power Mitt Oven Glove will be produced in limited quantities. (Consumerist)
