Stocks quoted in this article:

The stock market is up in early trading, amid a flurry of economic data -- including the latest weekly jobless claims report. In company news, here are some stocks to watch today:

  • The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO) has taken a 10% stake in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (NASDAQ:GMCR) for $1.25 billion, as the two beverage giants announced a 10-year partnership. As part of the arrangement, GMCR's yet-to-be-released Keurig Cold beverage system -- which is similar to SodaStream International Ltd.'s (NASDAQ:SODA) home soda maker -- will incorporate KO products. (CNNMoney)

  • Sony Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) agreed to sell its Vaio personal computer business to Japan Industrial Partners in order to concentrate on smartphones and tablets. The electronics company also announced plans to lay off 5,000 workers as part of the aforementioned deal, and spin off its television operations by July. (CNET)

  • Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has managed to settle its European antitrust case without having to reveal its top-secret search algorithm, pay a fine, or admit wrongdoing. However, the settlement -- which still requires final approval from the European Commission -- will require GOOG to feature at least three competitors when users conduct specialized searches for restaurant, shopping, and travel options. (The New York Times)

  • The Syrian Electronic Army attacked Facebook Inc's (NASDAQ:FB) domain name registration yesterday, but thanks to "registrar locks" the social network had put into place, the effect was non-existent. Had the hackers been successful, traffic to FB could have been redirected to websites featuring pro-Syria propaganda and other content. (Re/code)

  • Also, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS), AOL, Inc. (NYSE:AOL), General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), GMCR, Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P), Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), and Yelp Inc (NYSE:YELP) reported quarterly earnings. (The New York Times; Reuters; USA Today; Barron's; CNNMoney)

  • Finally, while the Winter Olympics are set to kick off Friday, plenty of visitors to Russia's host city of Sochi are already complaining about the state of its accommodations. Journalists and other travelers are reporting hotel rooms without floors or shower curtains, undrinkable water, and other substandard living conditions. (MarketWatch)
