Following yesterday's downturn, the broad-market indexes are signaling a rebound, with futures pointed higher ahead of the open. In company news, here are some stocks to watch today:

  • Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) confirmed yesterday the purchase of headphone maker Beats Electronics for $3 billion. AAPL CEO Tim Cook called Beats co-founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine "kindred spirits," and expressed his intention to "advance what they've done to a whole different level." (USA Today)

  • AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Uber are teaming up to help people easily find transportation using their smartphones. T will pre-load the ride-hailing app on all Android-based phones it sells, and beginning this summer, will become the exclusive cell phone provider for Uber drivers. (TechCrunch)

  • Responding to public pressure, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) posted a demographic breakdown of its workforce on its blog, which revealed a startling lack of diversity. For example, of GOOGL's 46,000-plus employees, 70% are men; in terms of ethnicity, 61% of workers are white. "Put simply, Google is not where we want to be when it comes to diversity," the blog said. (The Washington Post)

  • Starting in the third quarter, DISH Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) will begin accepting bitcoin payments from customers. The pay-television provider also announced the selection of Coinbase as its payment processor, for customers using the cryptocurrency. (Reuters)

  • Also, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE:ANF), Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST), and ReneSola Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:SOL) reported quarterly earnings. (MarketWatch; FOX Business)

  • Finally, QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) CEO Steve Mollenkopf expressed hopes yesterday that the "eyes" used to navigate driverless cars will be made by his company. The executive said QCOM is already developing computer vision technology for smartphones, and a system for individual vehicles to connect and share information while on the road. (Re/code)
