Stocks appear ready to rebound this morning, with futures pointed higher in pre-market trading. In company news, here are some stocks to watch today:

  •, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) debuted a new secure card reader called Local Register yesterday, giving small businesses in the U.S. another way to accept payments on smartphones and tablets. AMZN is offering a 1.75%-per-swipe promotional rate for customers who sign up before Oct. 31; afterward, the company will take a 2.5% cut of each transaction. (PCWorld)

  • Sony Corp's (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 has reached 10 million in unit sales, the company announced. This represents a significant setback for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), as its Xbox One console has sold just 5 million units. (CNBC)

  • Macy's, Inc. (NYSE:M), which reported quarterly earnings earlier, has been fined nearly $1 million in the accidental decapitation of an employee at one of the retailer's distribution centers in 2009. Additionally, the court ordered M to conduct audits on its balers and compactors at California retail and distribution locations, in order to avoid a repeat incident. (CNBC; Los Angeles Times)

  • Activision Blizzard, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:ATVI) first-person shooter Destiny has set a new record for video game pre-orders. The title is set for a Sept. 9 release. (Reuters, via CNBC)
